HANNON Steel to Move to New Purpose-Built Premises in 2026
HANNON Steel Set to Move to New Purpose-Built Premises in Q1 2026
We’re pleased to share an update on the development of our new purpose-built HANNON Steel premises at Nutts Corner, with the move scheduled for Q1 2026.
This major investment forms a central part of the HANNON Group’s wider Infrastructure Development Programme, designed to deliver modern, high-capacity facilities that support more efficient operations and continued, reliable service for customers across Northern Ireland.
Designed Specifically for Steel Stockholding
The new Nutts Corner facility has been designed from the ground up to meet the practical demands of a busy steel stockholding and distribution operation.
Construction began last year, led by S&E Contracts Ltd, who have been overseeing the redevelopment of the former RAF base. Since work commenced, the site has undergone a significant transformation, with the steel frame, roofing, and cladding now fully complete.
The building layout brings together expanded steel storage areas, improved processing zones, and dedicated customer-facing spaces — all arranged to support smoother workflows, safer material handling, and more efficient day-to-day operations.
Increased Capacity, Improved Efficiency
Once operational, the new premises will deliver a substantial uplift in stockholding capacity. This will allow us to carry a broader and deeper range of materials on site, improving availability and responsiveness for our customers.
The enhanced workflow design will enable faster movement through the facility, helping our team respond quickly and reliably to customer demand. Additional investment in modern infrastructure — including upgraded yard space and improved vehicle access — will further enhance operational performance and the overall customer experience.
An Important Step Forward
This move represents an exciting new chapter for HANNON Steel and an important step in ensuring we have the facilities and capacity needed to support our customers well into the future.
By investing in purpose-built infrastructure, we are strengthening our ability to operate efficiently, safely, and at scale — while continuing to deliver the dependable service our customers expect.

What’s Next?
With the external cladding now complete, the project is progressing into the next key phases of development:
-
Internal fit-out of stockholding areas, including racking, processing zones, and workflow systems
-
Yard development to improve logistics, loading, unloading, and vehicle flow
-
Installation of office and customer service spaces, creating a modern environment for staff and visitors
-
Site-wide preparation for operational readiness, including services, safety systems, and final commissioning
Our team is already looking forward to getting settled into the new facility early next year, and we’ll continue to share progress updates as the build moves through its final stages.
